Jason Reitman will walk in his father’s footsteps and direct the new Ghostbusters movie slated to come out in the summer of 2020. Reitman— whose father, four-time Oscar nominee Ivan Reitman, directed the original 1984 film—tweeted Tuesday that he “finally got the keys to the car.” “I’ve always thought of myself as the first Ghostbusters fan, when I was a 6-year-old visiting the set,” he said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. “I wanted to make a movie for all the other fans… This is the next chapter in the original franchise. It is not a reboot. What happened in the ’80s happened in the ’80s, and this is set in the present day.” Reitman will also co-write the new installment of the Sony Pictures Ghostbusters series.
