Jaycee Lee Dugard spoke to Diane Sawyer Sunday about the 18 years she spent as a captive in Phillip and Nancy Garrido’s backyard prison. Abducted when she was 11, Dugard mothered two children by Phillip Garrido. She says he would sometimes cry after raping her, say he had a “sex problem,” and tell her she was saving him from raping other girls. Dugard’s memoir, A Stolen Life, is also coming out soon. “Why not look at it?” she told Sawyer about her reason for writing it. “You know, stare it down until it can't scare you anymore. I didn't want there to be any more secrets … I hadn't done anything wrong. It wasn't something I did that caused this to happen. And I feel that by putting it all out there, it's very freeing.”
