Jean-Paul Gaultier to Leave Hermès

End of an Era

Will be replaced by former Lacoste designer.

Hermès, the storied French fashion house, has lost its crown jewel. Jean-Paul Gaultier, who has overseen women’s ready-to-wear there for the past seven years, will leave after the Spring/ Summer 2011 collection. Gaultier, who brought avant-garde ideas to the house, will depart to “concentrate on his own projects.” He will be replaced by Christophe Lemaire, the French designer famous for revamping Lacoste, will take over for the Fall/ Winter 2011 collection.
