Jeb Bush and Mitt Romney are planning to meet in private in Utah this week, two prominent party members told The New York Times on Wednesday. Bush requested the meeting, which was planned before Romney’s announcement two weeks ago that he was considering a third run for the presidency, according to an unidentified party member. Initially, the encounter was intended for Bush to pay respect to Romney before seeking the 2016 nomination, but could now represent a planning meeting to ensure the two potential candidates don’t split the Republican Party next year. Aides for both Romney and Bush did not return requests for comment.
