Radiohead may have been a no-show, but protesters at Occupy Wall Street were treated to a surprise concert by Jeff Mangum, the lead singer of the broken-up Neutral Milk Hotel. The reclusive Mangum had all but stopped making public appearances since his band’s hit 1998 album In the Aeroplane Over the Sea. Mangum played several songs in Zucotti Park on Tuesday night before chatting with and embracing protesters. “Of course I support [Occupy Wall Street],” Mangum said. “This is just something small I can do.” He said he is planning to write something about the protests soon.
