Sherman Hemsley, the actor most famous for playing George Jefferson on the longtime hit sitcom The Jeffersons died Tuesday at age 74, TMZ reports. Hemsley first made it big as a guest star on the ’70s classic All in the Family, before his character was spun off into its own series. After The Jeffersons ended in 1985, Hemsley went on to star in the long-running drama Amen, and had memorable recurring roles on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and The Hughleys. The cause of death is still being determined.
