Betting is open on the 2013 Man Booker prize. The U.K. bookmaker Ladbrokes has released, as it does every year, odds on the longlisted novels. This year’s field is wide open, with Jim Crace’s Harvest only a 9–2 favorite to win. The 67-year-old Crace, who was shortlisted in 1997 for his book Quarantine, says Harvest will be his final novel. Colm Toíbín, the only other previously nominated author on the longlist, is listed at 5 to 1. Allison MacLeod is listed at 6 to 1 for Unexploded, along with two relative newcomers, 28-year-old Eleanor Catton and debut novelist Donal Ryan.
