Jim DeMint Is Playing It Cool

As the Republican presidential candidates make their way to South Carolina ahead of the state’s January 21 primary, they all have their eyes on one specific prize: the endorsement of Senator Jim DeMint. But while everyone from Mitt Romney to Rick Perry is trying their hardest to win over the influential Tea Partier, DeMint has made it clear he’s just not that into any of the presidential hopefuls. Realizing Mitt Romney will probably win his state’s primary regardless, DeMint feels no pressure to endorse any of the candidates and is, instead, more focused on winning enough seats to create a Republican majority in the Senate.
