Jimmy Carter’s grandson says the former president is “really sick” but is trying to keep his mind active by listening to audiobooks. “He still does use his brain,” Hugo Wentzel told Entertainment Weekly after he was eliminated from the game show Claim to Fame. “He’s a genius. He’s super smart. I love him.” Carter, 98, entered home hospice care six months ago; his wife Rosalynn has been diagnosed with dementia. “When I see her, she does forget what’s going on sometimes, but when she remembers it’s amazing. I love her,” Wentzel said.
