The truth has finally emerged about Joaquin Phoenix's odd behavior over the past year. Casey Affleck, his brother-in-law and director of his new movie I’m Still Here, admits it was all for the camera. Phoenix’s antics—including a notorious appearance on Late Show with David Letterman during which he espoused ambitions about becoming a rap star—were part of a “gonzo filmmaking” process, Affleck finally admitted to The New York Times on Thursday. He said that Phoenix's two-year stint as himself was "terrific” and called it “the performance of his career.” Affleck also insisted, “I never intended to trick anybody... The idea of a quote, hoax, unquote, never entered my mind.”
