It was a cruel and heinous murder, jurors in the Jodi Arias trial agreed on Wednesday, making the convicted killer officially eligible to receive the death penalty. But there’s still one more step in the sentencing process in the high-profile case. Next, the prosecution will present even more witnesses, including the family of Travis Alexander, whom Arias was found guilty of killing, in order to persuade the jury to decide upon capital punishment. After her conviction last week, Arias herself said she preferred being put to death over life in prison. She was accused of shooting Alexander, an ex-boyfriend, and stabbing him 27 times in 2008.
