The late Penn State football coach Joe Paterno will be buried today. The funeral is private, but a public viewing will be held in the morning. On Tuesday, thousands of students, alumni, players, and fans attended a public memorial ceremony, and on Monday President Obama phoned Paterno’s family to offer his condolences. Paterno died Sunday at the age of 85, after coaching Penn State’s football team for 46 years. His long career was marred by its sudden end amid accusations that he neglected to stop assistant coach Jerry Sandusky’s alleged sexual abuse of children.
