Judd Apatow Slams Oscars for ‘Barbie’ Screenplay Category

The Academy put the film under adapted screenplay instead of original screenplay.

The group behind the Oscars has decided that Barbie will compete in the adapted screenplay category instead of original screenplay—and Judd Apatow is not a fan. The director and screenwriter took to X to slam the decision, tweeting: “It’s insulting to the writers to say they were working off of existing material. There was no existing material or story. There was a clear box.” Greta Gerwig wrote the Barbie script with her husband Noah Baumbach.
