Under the orders of Judge Thokozile Masipa, Olympian Oscar Pistorius will be evaluated to determine his mental state when he shot his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, on Valentine’s Day 2013. On Tuesday, she ordered Pistorius to attend a Pretoria hospital daily as an outpatient for a month. After a forensic psychiatrist testified for the defense that Pistorius was suffering from generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) at the time of the murder, the prosecution pushed for an official mental evaluation. The defense strongly opposed the evaluation order. The prosecution has pushed it to prove the defense keeps giving Pistorius new alibis, from self-defense to accident to mental distress. The trial is adjourned until June 30.
