The same judge who, a week ago, struck down Wisconsin’s ban on same-sex marriage as unconstitutional, issued an order Friday postponing her decision pending the outcome of an expected appeal. District Judge Barbara Crabb acknowledged that there has been “much confusion among county clerks” about the decision she made last week and said she is reluctantly granting the temporary stay. “After seeing the expressions of joy on the faces of so many newly wedded couples featured in media reports, I find it difficult to impose a stay on the event that is responsible for eliciting that emotion, even if the stay is only temporary,” she said.
