A judge on Monday declined to throw out felony drug charges against Rose McGowan during a hearing at Virginia's Loudoun County District Court. Plastic bags with traces of cocaine were found inside the actress's wallet in an airplane at Washington's Dulles International Airport in January 2017. McGowan’s defense filed a motion to dismiss the case, arguing that she had been "targeted" by the "Harvey Weinstein machine," and the drugs were planted after she left the plane. “There is simply no point in time at which the evidence places Ms. McGowan and the cocaine together in the same place," her lawyer argued. They also cited a Guardian article as proof that Weinstein was targeting McGowan, offering no other independent evidence to support such claims. “We’re not going to stipulate to a motion based on news articles—that would be hearsay,” the prosecution said in response to the defense motion. Another hearing is scheduled for March 21.
