A U.S. District Court judge has ruled that the Trump administration was wrong to claim it could begin to implement its transgender military ban, BuzzFeed News reports. In her decision Tuesday, Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly said the administration remained “bound by this Court’s preliminary injunction to maintain the status quo” and was “incorrect” to claim the ban could take effect. Last week, the Trump administration reportedly stated in a memo that it planned to enact the ban next month after the Justice Department said there was “no longer any impediment” to stop them from doing so. The latest ruling comes after the DC Court of Appeals reportedly “vacated” an injunction to stop the government's ban in January. The Justice Department reportedly argued that this meant the government was free to enact the ban. LGBT advocacy lawyers, on the other hand, disagreed and argued that the court had not yet issued a mandate to “lift the injunction.”
