Ousted Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak’s retrial had a false start on Saturday when the presiding judge withdrew himself from the case and referred it to another court. After the ailing Mubarak had been wheeled in on a stretcher, the relatives of those he was convicted of killing began shouting in the courtroom, “The people demand the execution of Mubarak!” The judge cited “unease” with the case as his reason for moving the case elsewhere. The retrial was set to begin Saturday, after Mubarak appealed his life sentence for having protestors killed during the riots that drove out his regime.
