San Antonio Mayor Julián Castro was overshadowed Tuesday night—no, not by first lady Michelle Obama, who threw down like no other presidential spouse ever has at a political convention. (Sorry, Hillary Clinton.)
The first Latino to deliver a keynote convention speech lost some of his historic star power to his 3-year-old daughter, Carina Victoria. As Daddy told a sweet story of taking her to her first day of pre-K a couple of weeks ago, the pretty little fashionista had other things on her mind. Castro recalled the tender moment when he whispered, “Que Dios te bendiga,” or “May God bless you,” to his only child.
The television cameras quickly caught up with Castro’s wife and daughter, who were sitting with his mother, and little Carina Victoria wasted no time. Immediately, she started primping and flipping her hair from side to side.
It is unclear whether a new Democratic star was born Tuesday night, but an Internet sensation certainly was.
