A Los Angeles County jury decided on Monday that the convicted serial killer best known as “Grim Sleeper” should be given a death sentence. Lonnie David Franklin Jr., 63, was found guilty last month for 10 murders and one count of attempted murder that took place in South L.A. from 1985 to 2007. Franklin often dumped the bodies of his victims—mostly vulnerable black women from the city's poorest areas—in dumpsters and landfills. Authorities believe he may have killed as many as 25 people.
