The iGiant was awarded $1.05 billion in damages Friday after a Silicon Valley jury decided that Samsung did indeed violate all but one of seven contested iPhone and iPad patents. The award fell over a billion short of Apple’s request for more than $2.5 billion in damages, and a ruling is still pending over whether Samsung will be forced to pull some of its most popular cellphones and tablets from the market. Samsung's lawyers say they will move immediately to file an appeal of the decision.
