Kansas City Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt was cut from the team after video emerged Friday that showed him kicking and shoving a woman in February, according to reports. In the video, which was first published by TMZ Sports, Hunt is seen pushing and kicking a woman in a hallway at his downtown Cleveland apartment building. While police responded to the incident, and wrote up a report, footage had not surfaced publicly until the TMZ Sports report. The video shows Hunt talking to a woman off-camera. She approached Hunt, who pushed her. She then hit him in the face. When people tried to intervene in the altercation, Hunt had to be restrained because he kept coming at the woman. He then appeared to push two people over, including the woman. Before the video ends, Hunt is seen kicking the woman, who is still on the ground.“I want to apologize for my actions,” Hunt told ESPN in a statement. “I deeply regret what I did. I hope to move on from this.” In a statement explaining Hunt’s release, the Chiefs said, “Earlier this year, we were made aware of an incident involving running back Kareem Hunt. At that time, the National Football League and law enforcement initiated investigations into the issue. As part of our internal discussions with Kareem, several members of our management team spoke directly to him. Kareem was not truthful in those discussions. The video released today confirms that fact. We are releasing Kareem immediately.”
