After Kanye West’s New York City surprise show was canceled because of huge crowds early Monday, a false rumor sent many of his fans to Trump SoHo. More than 4,000 of West’s fans had brought mayhem to the area around Webster Hall in New York, after it was announced that he would perform a pop-up show. Within minutes, thousands of them filled the area around the theater, which holds only 1,500 people. The show was canceled over safety concerns. At around 2:30 a.m., one of West’s companies then tweeted that he’d make an appearance at Trump SoHo. So hundreds of people rushed there. A hotel manager tried to disperse the crowd by clarifying that West wasn’t inside, but by 3:45 a.m., the hotel still had a sizable crowd of hopeful fans, according to a Guardian reporter.
