A youth-based nonprofit group in Chicago co-founded by Kanye West said it is now changing its name after getting caught up in a Twitter fight with his wife, Kim Kardashian West. The organization, Donda’s House, was founded by West and rapper Rhymefest in 2011 to honor West’s mother, Donda. But in a statement released Friday, the organization said it had been “unable to secure the financial support of Kanye despite multiple attempts,” leaving a reconstruction project in jeopardy. Rhymefest went so far as to accuse West of saying “fuck the youth of Chicago” with his supposed failure to keep his commitments. In response, Kardashian West embarked on a tweetstorm in which she vowed to take full control of the nonprofit. By Sunday, the group said it had decided to change its name and possibly surrender control to avoid the public spectacle.
