Kate Middleton Named 2013's Top Beauty Icon: For the third year in a row, the Duchess of Cambridge has been named the UK's top beauty icon, beating out the likes of Victoria Beckham, Cara Delevingne, and Beyonce. Despite a few beauty debacles this past year—including some gray hairs and a bad ponytail situation—Middleton's lucious locks still seem to be a fan favorite. The study, which was conducted by Superdrug, found that Middleton's popularity stems from her relatability and natural look. Simon Comins of the company said, "Kate Middleton has secured her place in the nation's hearts, and has cemented her position as a beauty icon. The Duchess is always immaculately presented, but is styled in a way that the average person can relate to, and take inspiration from." [Daily Mail]
Marilyn Monroe's Seven Year Itch Dress is History's Most Iconic Film Costume: The white dress that has become synonymous with Marilyn Monroe from her film The Seven Year Itch, has been named the most iconic screen costume of all time in a survey by the British Heart Foundation. The dress, which was created by William Travilla, was famously worn by Monroe as she stood over a subway grate. Other pieces named on the list include Dorothy's blue-and-white gingham dress from The Wizard of Oz, Olivia Newton-John's black leather ensemble in Grease's final scene, and Audrey Hepburn's black Givenchy frock from Breaktfast at Tiffanys.
