The Atlantic’s latest storm, Katia, was upgraded to a Category 1 hurricane Wednesday night, as forecasters said it was too soon to tell where the storm will go. The National Hurricane Center stressed that the public should not worry about the storm, since it was too early to tell if it would make landfall. Some computer models show Katia making landfall near Bermuda, while others show it veering north in the Atlantic away from land. Meanwhile, another tropical depression churned in the Gulf of Mexico; it will be named Lee if it is upgraded to tropical-storm status. Some computer models show that storm heading straight to Texas and making landfall near Houston. BP already evacuated some workers from its offshore platforms in the Gulf in anticipation.
