The latest in the Katie Couric horse race: The former CBS news anchor is near a deal with ABC for a syndicated daytime talk show that could pay her “far more than her $15 million-a-year anchor salary,” according to The Daily Beast’s Howard Kurtz. Should Couric sign, she’ll join powerful female journalists Barbara Walters, Diane Sawyer, and Christiane Amanpour at ABC. Expect an announcement in early June.
