Katy Perry To Guest Star on The Simpsons

After being cut from Sesame Street.

After Sesame Street decided to cut a segment featuring a Katy Perry duet with Elmo over parental complaints concerning her cleavage, the pop star will guest star on Fox’s The Simpsons. Perry will appear in a Christmas-themed episode of the animated comedy as herself in a live-action segment that features Simpsons characters as puppets. “In the wake of Elmo’s terrible betrayal, the Simpsons puppets wish to announce they stand felt-shoulder-to-shoulder with Katy Perry,” said series executive producer Al Jean. Perry will sing a rendition of “The 39 Days of Christmas,” and will also play the girlfriend of Moe, Springfield’s grumpy local bartender. The episode, entitled “The Fight Before Christmas,” will also feature an appearance by an animated Martha Stewart and is set to air December 5 on Fox. It was shot in mid-September, prior to the September 23 Sesame Street incident.
