Katy Perry has nabbed the coveted halftime show at the 2015 Super Bowl. Multiple sources confirmed the “Fireworks” singer would take the stage February 1 in Glendale, Arizona. Perry was considered a frontrunner in an August Wall Street Journal report, which listed Coldplay and Rihanna as her competition. Rihanna’s recent fracas with CBS over their decision to axe her “Run This Town” during the Ray Rice scandal may have ended her shot. The NFL is also reported to have started asking performers to pay to play the Super Bowl, which could be a turn-off. Last week, Perry appeared on ESPN’s College Game Day, claiming “I’m not the kind of girl who would pay to play the Super Bowl.” The 11.5 million viewers for Bruno Mars’ halftime show in 2014 may have changed her mind.
