The favorite for the Kentucky Derby has been scratched just hours before the race. Churchill Downs spokesman Darren Rogers confirmed that Forte would not be racing after being examined by Kentucky state veterinarians, AP reports. It was the fifth scratching this week from the race with 18 horses left to battle it out. Forte had a five-race winning streak and was the early 3-1 favorite. Five horses have died at Churchill Downs in the past week.
