Kenya’s military said Sunday that it killed nine militants from the Qaeda-linked militant group Al-Shabab, which it has been pursuing in Somalia. Several Kenyans were injured, and the Army said they believed some of the Al-Shabab fighters escaped with injuries. Kenya blames the group for a series of attacks and kidnappings in their country, and has dispatched hundreds of troops to Somalia in response. Al-Shabab is running an insurgency against the weak, U.N.-supported government in Somalia, and is recognized as the country’s most dangerous militant group.
