Thursday morning pop star Kesha dropped a new single and op-ed addressing the alleged abuse she faced from Dr. Luke. “This song is about coming to feel empathy for someone else even if they hurt you or scare you,” Kesha wrote in Lenny. She goes on to explain the emotional hardships she has gone through over the past few years. In 2014, Kesha accused music producer Dr. Luke of sexual, physical, verbal, and emotional abuse. The stunning video opens with the pop star in what appears to be a colorful coffin, in a voiceover she asks, “Am I dead?” The song, titled “Praying,” is just as raw and powerful as the video. “Praying” marks the singer’s first song since her legal battle; her new album Rainbow comes out August 11.
