Spanish officials have named U.S.-based human rights activist Adrian Hong Chang as the mastermind in a recent raid on the North Korean embassy in Madrid, according to the Korean Times. Ten men, including an American citizen named as Sam Ryu and a South Korean citizen named as Lee Woo-ran, allegedly broke into the embassy last month, stealing sensitive documents. The alleged ringleader Hong Chang is the co-founder of Liberty in North Korea, a California based non-governmental organization that was founded in 2004 at Yale University to help rescue North Korean defectors and refugees. Lawyers for the suspects have not made any statements about their clients’ alleged involvement.
