Kim Kardashian West lauded New Zealand for a planned ban on semi-automatic rifles shortly after shootings at two Christchurch mosques left 49 dead, and chided U.S. politicians for their inaction on gun control. “Just 24 hours after the Christchurch shooting New Zealand bans semiautomatic guns!” the reality TV star tweeted shortly before 11 a.m. Saturday. “America take note! Why can’t our elected officials put public safety over gun manufacturers’ profits?!?!” Accused shooter Brenton Harrison Tarrant allegedly used two semi-automatic guns, two shotguns and a lever-action gun in carrying out the two massacres. The New Zealand government announced that it will ban semi-automatic rifles and the country’s prime minister said that she will push for gun law reform, according to The Guardian.
