King’s Speech, Fighter Lead SAG Nominations

The nominations for the Screen Actors Guild Awards are out—and The King’s Speech and Fighter lead the pack with four nods each. Colin Firth (The King’s Speech), Jeff Bridges (True Grit), Robert Duvall (Get Low), Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network, and James Franco (127 Hours) are up for best actor. The best actress race is between Annette Bening for The Kids Are All Right, Natalie Portman for Black Swan, Nicole Kidman for Rabbit Hole, Jennifer Lawrence for Winter's Bone, and Hilary Swank for Conviction. The SAGs, viewed as one of the bellwethers for the Academy Awards, also includes a prize for overall cast. Nominees in that category are The King’s Speech, Fighter, Black Swan, The Kids Are All Right, and The Social Network. In television, HBO dominated the acting awards, earning nine nominations, including Al Pacino, John Goodman, and Susan Sarandon for You Don’t Know Jack, Claire Danes, Catherine O’Hara, and Julia Ormond for Temple Grandin, and Steve Buscemi for Boardwalk Empire.
