Kris Kobach Ordered to Turn Over Trump Documents

Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach must turn over the documents on homeland security he presented to then-President-elect Donald Trump in November, a federal judge has ruled. The documents, which a photographer snapped Kobach carrying as he entered a meeting with Trump, called for heightened surveillance against “high-risk” immigrants. Kobach is currently involved in a lawsuit challenging the legality of a Kansas law that requires voters to prove U.S. citizenship when registering to vote. U.S. Magistrate Judge James O’Hara ruled that the documents Kobach brought to his meeting with Trump are “unquestionably relevant” to the lawsuit. Kobach has until Wednesday to produce the documents.
