A well-matched final round in the NBA Championship series brought two old rivals, the Lakers and the Celtics, head to head for a historic contest. They took it all the way to Game 7, with the Celtics dominating throughout the first three and half quarters. In a dramatic ending to the game, the Celtics fouled and the Lakers made the game-clinching free-throws by Pau Gasol. With 11.5 seconds left on the clock, Boston shot and missed, giving the Lakers their 16th title, just one short of the Celtics. The final score was 83-79 with Kobe Bryant scoring 23 points for the Lakers, followed by Ron Artest, who made 20.
