The number of fatalities from the March 22 landslide in Washington has risen to 24, while 30 people are still missing or unaccounted for. Fifteen of the victims have been identified, and six are yet to be identified. Another four were found Sunday, but have not been added to the official count until the medical examiner receives the bodies. Searchers have had to tackle treacherous conditions, which has created its own set of risks. “We’re worried about dysentery, we’re worried about tetanus, we’re worried about contamination,” said Lt. Richard Burke of the Bellevue Fire Department. “The last thing we want to do is take any of these contaminants out of here and take them into town.”
