Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck is ”very concerned” about the shooting of an unarmed man in his twenties by police officers in Los Angeles on Tuesday night. The LAPD says officers responded to a call reporting a man harassing people on the streets of Venice. When they showed up, he had gotten “into an altercation” with a bouncer at a nearby bar and then struggled with officers, police say. Beck says that so far, “I don’t see the supporting evidence that I normally would” to justify the shooting. The man has only been identified as “Dizzle,” a nickname, and was apparently transient. On Wednesday morning, a small crowd gathered at the site and yelled at the LAPD, “The police are mercenaries!”
