They should have just sent the Hipster Cop. The Los Angeles Police Department sent nearly a dozen undercover detectives to the Occupy L.A. encampment before this week's raid. None of them slept at the camp, but they tried to blend in and learn whether anyone planned to resist eviction or use weapons against the police. They learned that some protesters had prepared bamboo spears, according to City News Service, which first reported the story. (No spears were used.) An LAPD official downplayed the significance of the information, saying because all the meetings are public, it was easily attained.
