Chicago police officer Jason Van Dyke was formally indicated this week on six counts of first-degree murder and one count of official misconduct in the October 2014 shooting death of 17-year-old Laquan McDonald. The incident was famously caught on dashboard-camera video and, when released a year later, resulted in protests across Chicago and the eventual firing of Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy.
