A military lawyer representing Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl said Tuesday the accused U.S. Army deserter should be awarded a Purple Heart and a Prisoner of War medal. Army Lt. Col. Franklin Rosenblatt also alleged that the Army’s failure to award Bergdahl with these honors could bias the jury in an upcoming trial. Bergdahl faces a court-martial for charges of “misbehavior before the enemy” and desertion, the former of which could earn him a life sentence in jail.
