The mysterious blond girl taken into custody by Greek police during a raid on a Roma camp, was adopted "in a non-legal way," says the lawyer of the couple she was found living with. According to DNA tests the couple is unrelated to the girl, called Maria, but they say her mother was a Bulgarian Gypsy who gave them custody when she was unable to care for her daughter. The Roma couple have been charged with kidnapping a minor and falsifying documents, and an international search to find Maria's biological mother is underway.
