Layoffs Hit Apple Car Project

Apple’s nascent project to develop a self-driving car has hit a roadbock. The New York Times reports “Apple has shuttered parts of its self-driving car project and laid off dozens of employees,” according to three people familiar with the program nicknamed Project Titan. Apple spun the job cuts internally as a “reboot” of its effort to make a self-driving electric vehicle to challenge efforts by Tesla, Google, and forthcoming projects from Ford, General Motors, and Fiat Chrysler.
