LeBron James told CNN on Wednesday that he believes his race was a factor in the backlash to his decision to sign with the Miami Heat. “I think so, at times,” he said. “It’s always, you know, a race factor.” Interestingly, a poll shows that James’ negativity rating among non-blacks jumped from 24 to 44 percent after his decision; among blacks, it rose just 1 percent, from 14 to 15 percent. Asked on Thursday for additional comment, James said, “I’m not going to go back on my words. I think people are looking too into it.”
