The 12-year-old brother of Leila Fowler, the 8-year-old California girl found stabbed to death on April 27, was arrested Saturday in connection to the grisly crime. Initially, Fowler’s brother had said that an intruder had broken into their home while the pair were home alone, stabbing Fowler and taking off on foot. The boy’s description of a tall, gray-haired man had set off a sweeping manhunt, and many in the community remained on edge. A neighbor also said she saw a man fleeing the house, but she has since recanted. It was not immediately clear what led authorities to suspect the boy, although knives were taken from the house to see if any had been used in the murder.
