Girls creator and writer Lena Dunham will write the script for a movie about a Syrian refugee stranded at sea, according to a Monday report from Variety. The film, which will be titled A Hope More Powerful Than the Sea: One Refugee’s Incredible Story of Love, Loss, and Survival, follows the true story of Doaa Al Zamel, a refugee mother who fled Egypt for Sweden with her two children. After Al Zamel was shipwrecked, Variety notes, she survived for days in open water holding a child in each arm, aided only by an inflatable water ring. The film will be co-produced by J.J. Abrams and Steven Spielberg, and does not yet have a release date.
