A 19-year-old has been arrested on suspicion that he’s the “slasher” who has randomly cut the faces of at least nine people as he rode through Los Angeles on a bicycle. Lenrey Briones has been detained on suspicion of attempted murder, the LAPD confirmed. The motive behind the attacks isn’t clear to investigators. Lt. Paul Patterson of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department told the Los Angeles Times: “For no reason at all, he would strike the victims across the face holding something sharp in his hand. Then he would ride away.” One victim claimed that, after the man slashed her neck, he didn’t say anything but rode away laughing. Authorities said they received hundreds of tips from the public that helped track down the suspect. The string of attacks began on March 20 and the victims ranged in age from 13 to 85 years old.
