Lesotho PM: Army Staged Coup Against Me

Flees to South Africa.

The prime minister of Lesotho, Thomas Thabane, has fled to South Africa after what he says amounted to a military coup against him. The military denies any attempt to oust him and says its soldiers have returned to their barracks.”It’s a military coup because it is led by the military,” Thabane told a South African news network. “And the military are outside the instructions of the commander in chief, who is myself.” Thabane said he is meeting with South African leaders on Saturdray to discuss the crisis in Lesotho. Witnesses in Lesotho reported seeing armed soldiers surrounding the State House and occupying the police force’s main headquarters, which is loyal to Thabane.
