In a wide-ranging interview with The New York Times, David Letterman says he now sees that his sex scandal was a “good reason” to fire him. “But at the time, I was largely ignorant as to what, really, I had done,” the Late Show host said. In 2009, he admitted that he had been the subject of extortion attempts over relationships with female staffers. “It just seemed like, OK, well, here’s somebody who had an intimate relationship with somebody he shouldn’t have had an intimate relationship with,” he said.
